- Where do we meet our guide?
- Your guide will arrange to meet you at your St Arnaud accommodation at the start of your trip.
- What do I need to bring and wear?
- We suggest you bring: A t-shirt (breathable is best), shorts, long sleeve top (warm), jersey/jumper (warm), thermal pants and wind/waterproof proof pants, sunglasses, a sun hat, a warm hat, a rain jacket and comfortable walking boots or trainers. New Zealand weather is very changeable so it is best to be prepared for any type of weather. St Arnaud village itself is ~620m above sea level meaning it can be very cold. Also remember to bring your camera!
- Will I need to carry a day pack?
- It is likely that you will need to carry a small day pack (which we provide). It will contain your personal effects and water bottle
- What footwear should we bring?
- All of these walks can be done comfortably in trainers. If you are doing a level 2 or 3 walk and would prefer the ankle support and already have a pair of comfortable boots by all means wear them.
- What do you provide?
- We will lend you a comfortable day pack to carry your personal effects and drink bottle + we will provide and carry the lunch, snacks, sunscreen, insect repellent and First Aid equipment. As well as taking care of all the safety management aspects of the trip, we include a pre-trip briefing and informative interpretation throughout your trip on the local area.
- What is the guide's experience?
- Our guides are locals; they have a thorough knowledge of the area and its wildlife. All guides have up to date Outdoor First Aid Certificates.
- What is the maximum group size?
- The maximum group size per trip is 4 or more people the guide
- Is a deposit required?
- Yes. A 25% deposit is required when booking a trip. The full amount is required 30 days prior to the trips departure.
- How do we pay?
- It is preferable if you pay by direct (online banking). You can also pay by cash or cheque. EFTPOS and VISA facilities are not currently available
- Is there an EFTPOS terminal in St Arnaud?
- No. Although you can get cash out from the local garage and hotel. It would be best to get money out in one of the larger cities (Nelson or Blenheim) prior to arriving at St Arnaud.
- What if we have to cancel?
- A 25% cancellation fee applies if you let us know more than 14 days in advance. Otherwise no refund is given unless a valid medical certificate is provided. No refund will be made after the trip has run. If you do need to cancel a trip please give us the most notice possible.
- What about booking a last minute trip?
- Please feel free to enquire if there are any spaces available at short notice.
- What if it's just me, your website states you need a minimum of 2 people per trip?
- Please feel free to enquire, it may be possible for you join another group or we can try to arrange something separately.
- What if I have special dietary requirements?
- Not a problem. Just let us know so we can cater for your needs.
- What about the weather?
- One thing we can't guarantee is the weather! Please read the "what do I need to bring and wear" section, which outlines all the clothing requirements you need to bring with you to St Arnaud so you are prepared for any type of weather on the day.
- Are there toilets along the way?
- There are a few toilets at the beginning of our walks and at all the huts, but otherwise no.
- How do I go to the toilet in the forest?
- Tell your guide that you need to stop so we know you need to go
Place your pack on the track (so we don't lose you)
Walk into the forest 10-20 metres (make sure you can still see your pack)
Use the heal of your boot/shoe to dig a small hole
Do your business, then place the dirt back on top and flatten

- There are several options available to you from hotel/motel accommodation through to camping.
